He knows.

I’m cleaning out Daniel’s leg three times a day, he finds it uncomfortable but it’s it’s necessary. The last time I clean his leg is at his bedtime. He hasn’t been eating independently much for a while now and I don’t interrupt him if he’s eating. Every time I go upstairs in the evening Daniel is eating seeds. I think he hears me coming up the stairs, doesn’t want his leg to be cleaned and eats a bit because he knows I won’t interrupt his eating.

Just now he’s sitting there, holding a dried flower, occasionally nibbling at it. He. Knows.

I’m so happy, Daniel is feeling more like his usual self again. The tumour on his leg is infected again, it’s already been 3.5 weeks this time and it’s likely to keep getting infected. He was having some trouble getting around the cage (he’s got so many extra ledges now) and was just generally less happy. The last few days he’s started doing his normal Daniel things again. Rearranging his chew toys, destroying them, greeting me at the side of the cage and being eager to come out.

The less endearing sign that Daniel is feeling better is that he’s nibbling my books again
