Don’t get your hamster sick

I feel like this needs to be said as I’m dealing with a cold right now, and I’m sure there are a handful of people out there that don’t know this.

Hamsters can get the sickies from our sickies, so it’s important to handle them as little as possible during this time. Always wash your hands before and after if you have to interact with them.

One of my girls died. I adopted her a couple months ago and she got along so well with my other two girls. 2 days ago she started getting breathing problems out of nowhere. I did what any degu mom would do and i took her to the vet immediately. They gave her fluids and antibiotics they said it was an upper respiratory infection. I stayed up the whole night with her but she didnt make it. I miss her so much. I wish i could have helped more. I gave her a flower pot burial. Rest in peace girl..

I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did everything you possibly could, try to remember that. Do you have any idea what might have caused the respiratory infection (just thinking of your other two girls)? I recently lost one of my boys, also unexpectedly, losing them is so difficult.
