Jack kept climbing up Daniel’s cage (degus are take good at climbing up but can’t climb back down) so now there’s a barrier in the way to keep everyone safe

My dearest degu
Sometimes when Daniel doesn’t want to eat I keep offering him food and he’ll eventually take a piece, turn sightly and drop it again like he’s saying “I took it, ok, are you happy now?”
If I’m offering him soft food and he doesn’t want it he’ll take the tiniest lick, it’s so cute that he’s trying to appease me.
