Today’s silly degu: Sam
The degus share their wheels and often join in while someone’s already running on the wheel. Usually they either jump on in the direction the wheel is going and join in, or they jump on in the opposite direction try to start running and the wheel rapidly stops.
Today Jack was running on the wheel, Sam jumped on but perpendicular to the way it was going and started being rolled along

Where should I sleep? I know! I’ll pull the hay out of the bed box and sleep in front of it!

A convenient place to chew on the log? Well, Ben seems to think so
Context first: the pumpkin prop has been in Ben and Zach’s room for days as another hide for when they’re out of the cage, they’ve walked over to it, jumped in it and have generally interacted with it independently and without problems.
Today Zach walked up to the pumpkin prop, got very spooked and squeaked his little head off as he ran away
Today’s silly degu: Tobias
He got a piece of puffed rice stuck on his front teeth, he was tilting his head back and pawing at his mouth but couldn’t get it off, so I gave him a hand.
Or the way Tobias tells it:
I was trying to eat some food and I nearly had it but then the Mean Human picked me up and- hey! food! – anyway, I’m not really sure why the human picked me up, they didn’t hold me long though.
Today’s silly degu: Zach
Jumping up the wall wasn’t working so he jumped on to my shoulder and tried jumping up the wall from further up
He didn’t get much further and landed back on my shoulder

Tobias making the bed. He kept jumping in with the kitchen roll, pulling it in til he was happy with where it was, then jumping out and pushing the kitchen roll back out with him. I love how silly they are.

No! My food!
I have a theory how degus can eat so much: tardis tummies
