Small Mammal Blogs?

pastel-plurals:

I’m looking for blogs to follow and I’m really wanting blogs focused on small mammals in general, or individual small mammals

So like hamsters, ratties, mice, guinea pigs, squirrels, bunnies, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, chinchillas, chipmunks etc. I mean you know what a small mammal is lol

Wild or pets, I don’t care at all, I just need more teeny cuties in my life.

Also if your blog is interspersed with other cuties, reptiles or larger mammals or birds, any cuties are fine, besides invertebrates like tarantulas or hissing cockroaches. We’ve got some insectophobia problems so we don’t want to worry, to each their own likes, but they aren’t ours personally.

Please reblog this post so I can check your blog out, I’ll be following from a different blog than this, just fwy

And if you follow this blog and have suggestions we’d love them!

Degus: The hay ball is empty and we’re hungry.
Me: Have you tried checking the floor for hay? You know, where you left it after you pulled it all out of the hay ball?

Are you really sure you need more hay??

Oh i want to harness train them so its easier to let them out of the house they enjoy shoulder rides. I think one of them is probably going to take to it more than the other its really cute it watch them play. I wouldnt try to give them unnecessary stress :)

I’ve heard of people wanting to take their degus for walks, shoulder rides sound safer 🙂 Personally I have a degu-proofed room that I let my degus run around while supervised and I don’t take them outside. I haven’t harness trained my degus so I can’t give any specific advice; when I’m training my degus to do something I do it in small increments with treats as rewards when they’re getting it right (usually puffed rice).

lmao im trying to harness train my degus any ideas? lol they arent freaking out over the harness but they really like the bell on it and keep trying to run off with the harness lol

It sounds really cute that they try to run off with the harness. Can I ask why you need to harness train your degus? I haven’t read anything that recommends this. It could lead to stress, if they get spooked and want to hide they won’t be able to get away. I’m concerned that the degu would wriggle/chew their way out of the harness – my degus can turn in to liquids to get away when they don’t want to be held. It can also be risky to use a leash on such a small animal.
