Fun fact: although you only ever see the front four teeth degus actually have 20 teeth, and they grow at a rate of around 1cm per month! Healthy teeth should be orange, white teeth show a lack of minerals.
A few months ago Thomas knocked out his two front teeth at the top, I think due to a sharp impact. I took Thomas to the vet who confirmed that he hadn’t lost them due to illness and that both the roots were still there even though there was no visible tooth left on one side.
Thomas easily managed to figure out how to eat while his teeth grew back and a week and a half later you couldn’t tell they were ever missing.

Huddles!

Sam having a cuddle
Jack is just the most polite little degu.
Jack: A box full of food without a lid? Why, I’ll just take the one seed and sit here whilst I eat it.
Any other degu: How much can I fit in my mouth? Ok, mouth full, can I cram any more in? *runs off to eat it then comes back for more*

Hello, do you have food?
